Titus Contracting Completes Beautiful Kitchen and Main Level Remodel

Titus Contracting completed a main level and kitchen remodel in Edina, Minnesota. Recent remodeling designs have been trending toward bright, open spaces that incorporate both function and energy efficiency. Our clients in Edina were looking to open up their dark and cramped kitchen and turn the main level of their home into a beautiful open-concept space.
One of the main challenges Titus faced in this remodel was finding a way to remove load bearing walls so the space could be opened up in their home. With some creative engineering and design, we were able to make this happen for our clients. After opening up the space, our crew was put to work updating it to make it brighter and more contemporary. This included completing a full kitchen remodel, upgrading the millwork to larger white enamel woodwork and updating finishes throughout the space.

The new kitchen features white cabinets (some with glass inset doors), quartz counter tops, tile backsplash, gourmet appliances and LED recessed lighting under the cabinets and inside the glass door cabinets. New hardwood floors were installed throughout the main level creating a consistent flow throughout the space. The stair railings were also given a more contemporary makeover using a combination of iron and wood.
Titus Contracting was happy to deliver this dream open space to our deserving clients. Together, we created a great family meeting space, where meals can be shared and daily happenings discussed, making it not only a beautiful new space, but a functional space as well.

Tips for Creating Your Perfect Living Space

When it comes to our homes, most of us want a space that truly shows off who we are. It may reflect our hobbies and interests, our line of work, or perhaps our family heritage, but in some way or another, as homeowners, we like to put our personalized touch on our home. It is these personal touches in design, décor and even architecture that make the walls of our house become a space we call home.

If you are new to design or perhaps have recently gotten the urge to customize your home, it can be somewhat overwhelming – but don’t panic. Instead, take a few minutes to bring in some design pros, as well as a professional contractor to help you determine what can – or cannot – be done with your space. By consulting with professionals, you can develop a plan based on the structural capabilities of your home, as well as its design potential.

For home remodeling in St Paul, you can rely on Titus Contracting. We can help with both the design and implementation of your project. As you begin the process of creating that perfect living space, here are some tips and ideas to consider:

  • Plan, plan, plan. This is absolutely the most important part of the process. Pay close attention to what the contractor tells you is possible with your space. Just because you want to take out a wall between the kitchen and living room, doesn’t mean you can, structurally. Once you know what type of structural changes can be made, it is safe to move ahead.
  • Be budget savvy. All home remodeling projects come with a price tag. Know what you can and can’t afford and be realistic with your expectations. Also, keep in mind that unforeseen things are sure to come up so have some cushion room in your budget to account for added expenses.
  • Love your kitchen. For many families, the kitchen is the heart of the home, so why not show off your personality with custom cabinetry? Whether it’s with unique wood designs, a custom-built table, inset shelving, bar, natural stone countertops, an unconventional paint pattern, or other features, the kitchen is a great space to show off your style.
  • Bring the outside in. Do you have a room that needs extra light? We can discuss adding a large picture window. Go a stop further by adding a decorative window seat, complete with shelves or a hidden storage area. Now, you’ll have have extra seating, storage and more light!
  • Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Consider having custom furniture, bookshelves or other woodworking included to show off your style. There are many ways to put a fresh spin on a traditional space.
  • More than a washroom. Are you ready to stop thinking of your bathroom as just a necessary space in the home? We can turn your basic bathroom into a home spa with custom counters and cabinets, textured finishes, a Jacuzzi tub and more.
Designing the perfect living space is about finding what makes you happy and incorporating that in your home design. If you need help with more ideas or are ready to start your St Paul home remodeling process, Contact Titus Contracting.

Make the Most of Your Home’s Lower Level

If you are beginning to feel cramped in your living space but would prefer to stay in your Eagan neighborhood, then perhaps, it is time to look at your space from a different perspective. For many homes, there is an often overlooked and under-utilized space perfect for expanding your family’s living area – the lower level.
If your Eagan home has a basement that is being used only as an organized storage area, why not turn that space into “the place” to hang out? From beautiful home theaters, to an extra bedroom or playroom, to office space, there are many ways the lower area of your home can be transformed from wasted to wonderful – and often, in a surprisingly short amount of time. Titus Contracting specializes in lower level finishing, and we would love to help transform your space.
Not only does turning the lower level of your home from a basic space to a fully functional work, play or entertainment space give you more room, but according to a report by Remodeling magazine, a lower level remodeling project has a 70.3% return on investment. That makes it one of the highest yielding home project ROIs!

However, in planning to turn your home’s lower level into a more usable space, there are some things to keep in mind. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • If you are looking for the highest amount of return on your project, consider designing a space that has multiple uses.
  • If you plan on converting your lower level into living space, be sure to note the local ordinances regarding the number and size of egresses required.
  • When planning the lighting, ducts, or changing the ceiling, you need to be certain there is enough headroom. As experienced builders, our team is up-to-date on building code, and we can help you determine what is safe and functional for your space.
  • When considering the overall layout of your lower level, it’s important to remember that it’s typically been an area where most of your household items have been stored. Titus can help you come up with creative storage solutions to find room for your things and keep them organized, without compromising the great design of your new space.
  • While many homeowners are opting to go with hardwood floors instead of carpeting for upstairs spaces; having carpet – especially a non-wool variety – will be easier and warmer than vinyl or wood in your basement.
  • More and more, people are choosing to create a lower level suite for a parent or relative to be able to live in independently. Therefore, we often encourage people to think about adding a wet bar or kitchen to their lower level. If you put the necessary plumbing in place before closing up the walls, you will have a much easier time converting it in the future should you need it.
  • Don’t forget the proper insulation! Eagan winters can be cold – be sure you do your part to keep your lower level space warm and inviting.

Lower level finishing is a great way to enhance your home’s value and add to your living space. The professionals at Titus Contracting can take your Eagan residence and make it everything you want it to be. Give us a call today at 952-746-7817 or Contact Us to learn how we can make your lower level into something awesome!

Working with us is easy. Your first step is to contact us to set up a consultation. Between the time you call us and the date of your consultation, we ask that you fill out a questionnaire that will tell us more about what you are looking for in your new kitchen. Do you want dark countertops and cabinetry, or do you prefer cabinets and counters in lighter shades? Are there specific appliances or other features you want and need? What style are you going for: traditional, rustic, modern, contemporary or something else? The questionnaire is there to help you organize your thoughts and ideas before we meet with you.

Also, if you have any photos of kitchens that you have seen in magazines or online, you can show them to us as well. The more we can really get to know you and see your vision, including your thoughts, ideas, wants and needs, the better we will be at designing your new kitchen.

During your consultation with us, we will go over the many details of your new kitchen. We will be sure we fully understand your preferences, your goals and your own personal style. During the design phase of your project, we will be sure to use as many of your ideas in the final design as possible. That way, we can be sure you are getting exactly what you want and need out of your new kitchen.
